Sillimanite-garnet-quartz-feldspar gneiss

This specimen is extremely rich in sillimanite. European geologists refer to such lithologies as "khondolites." This locality is very near some of the old graphite production sites west of Hague.
Thin section shows sillimanite, garnet, k-feldspar.
